The cost is £6.50 (£3.50 for under 15's) and proceeds will go to support the victims of the floods in Asia, many of whom will not have a harvest this year.

The choir will sing the Faure Requiem in place of the normal Evensong.

Drama and processions in the city centre
This event begins at Castle Yard at 10.15, moving to the Town Hall Square by 11.00, then on to Humberstone Gate by 11.45. The beginning of Jesus' ministry, his teaching, parables and healing will be depicted, ending with the Last Supper, his arrest, trial and Crucifixion.
ASCENSION DAY This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the
French composer, Olivier Messiaen. A devoutly religious man, his desire to
express the truths of the Christian faith through music was the mainspring of his creative life.
Our evening Eucharist on Ascension Day (1 May) will include one of his earliest and most accessible organ works, L’Ascension.
SOUTHERN EDGE MISSION PARTNERSHIP LAUNCH EVENT
This is being held at the Samworth Academy from 2.00 pm on Saturday 10 May.
Our boy and girl choristers will be contributing to the brief service of dedication. There will be book, cake and handicraft stalls, as well as various sideshows, including a Tombola. Tricia Dean and Marilyn Dorum will be glad to receive donations, either in Church or at the Church Office.
Admission to the event is by programme: these are available (£1 each) from Tricia Dean.
To be held following the midmorning service – to hear views, in general terms, on the possible appointment of a woman associate priest to St James the Greater.

The Gentlemen and Boys' choir enter from the back of a darkened church, singing Once in Royal David's City. Then in candlelight, a sequence of readings from Holy Scripture unfolds the story of the loving purposes of God from the beginning until now, with the birth of Jesus Christ as the turning point of history.

The concert programme will be released shortly but will cover celtic, spanish, and some popular music.
The ensemble has performed at many venues across the South of England but also The Barbican, The Royal Albert Hall, Guildford Cathedral, Leicester Picture Gallery, Faro Conservatoire, Ghent Cathedral and St Asaph's Cathedral Wales. They also due to perform at St. John's Smiths Square London in April 2009.
Recent tours included the south of France - playing to a sell out concert at Albi Cathedral, Belgium and Portugal.
The have also played on BBC Songs of Praise and Blue Peter.

Anniversary Concert
The Leicester Phoenix Youth Chorale is the present-day version of the Leicester Philharmonic Youth Choir, which was founded 20 years ago.
Robert Howes was the founding conductor (he inaugurated the various BBC carol and choir competitions) and he’s returning to conduct most of this spring’s concert. Willard Welsford is the current conductor.
